BEDM #3

Self care is where I struggle as a SAHM of two. My time and attention is divided completely among two other humans. Sometimes, I can't even find the time to sit and eat lunch on my own. I often feel like I'm running on fumes and the fact that I can only find the time to wash my hair twice a week is more of a reminder of how much of myself I sacrifice.

I can't be a good parent if I don't have energy to give them. I can't look after two people if I don't look after myself, even a little bit.

So my goal for this month is to force myself to take at least 20 minutes a day-be it for a glass of wine and a bath, a face mask, or just alone time to catch up on a show. And then see how that effects my overall self image and energy.

BEDM 2

When we found out where my husband was being stationed, I was less than excited. In all honesty, some days I still hate it. But I've learned to look at this as an adventure. If we have to stay here, why not make the most of it! We were paid to move here, and he is paid to stay here. Instead of continuously loathing this state, I'm starting to see the beauty of it. We're even buying a house which is an adventure in adulthood all its own!

Why spend so much effort hating where I'm at? My adventure is learning to embrace this experience and cherish this opportunity to live outside my comfort zone!

BEDM: Introduction

I am participating in a blogging colaboration circle of sorts.

Today is Inroduction day!

I am Katie, 24 and mother of two. I am a cloth diapering, baby wearing, breastfeeding activist.  Motherhood has inspired passions in me that childless younger me would have scoffed at. I have become one of "those moms".

I have been married to my husband for almost three years now, and it has been an adventure. His job has brought us a comfortability and experience we wouldnt have otherwise had. It may not always bring us joy, but the Army has helped our young family grow!

My passions include: dreaming about running a marathon (one day, I tell myself), reading about parenty things, occasionally a good craft beer, tattoos, piercings, and my family!

My House is a Mess

This is pretty much my disclaimer whenever anyone wants to come over. "Sure you can, but my house is a mess"falls out of my mouth effortlessly at this point. It's to let them know that 1) I haven't been able to catch up to the 3 other human beings that destroy my house without help to clean it up and that 2) i'm telling you so you know this isn't a state of living I like.

Try as I may, I can't keep up. I have a toddler who is a tornado, an infant who requires my attention 98.3% of the time, and a husband who is usually more amped to come home and relax than hit the ground running and do a load of dishes or laundry.

If I am lucky I get an hour when Landon goes down for his nap to knock out whatever I can, which is usually futile and becomes undone within an hour of my husband being home.

My job as a stay at home mom is to raise well rounded and emotionally secure children, the housework comes second. I am a mom, not a maid. Since two adults live here, two adults can help maintain the living space. It does not fall solely on me. I will clean up what I can, when I can. Luckily, I have a husband who realizes our kids come first and that he is equally as responsible for keeping our house clean, despite his general lack of interest in doing it. But it's better than nothing.

As I sit here now writing this in my pajamas, with a cup of coffee in hand, and a dire need for a shower, all I can think about is how badly the kitchen needs cleaning. But I'm saving it for later, and for now, I'm gonna enjoy hanging out with my kids.

First Easter egg hunt!

I got Weston this nursing necklace. It is such a staple for me. It gives him something to nom on when I wear him and something to play with when he eats I absolutely adore it and cannot sing enough praises to the usefulness of this jewelry.
